Safe & Compliant Treatment Environment

Clinic Setup

Every Hijama clinic or treatment space must meet the following minimum requirements:

Private, adequately ventilated treatment rooms providing client dignity and comfort
All surfaces — including walls, floors, and treatment areas — must be smooth, non-porous, and easily cleanable
Accessible handwashing facilities with soap, clean water, and disposable paper towels or a hand dryer
Adequate lighting for safe and precise treatment
A clearly designated clean zone and dirty zone to prevent cross-contamination

Safe Equipment Handling Protocols

Equipment & Sterilisation

Proper equipment management is central to client safety and infection prevention:

All blades, lancets, and skin-penetrating instruments must be single-use and disposed of immediately after each client
Reusable cupping cups must be properly sterilised between every client using an HPA-approved method
Treatment beds and surfaces must be disinfected with an appropriate clinical disinfectant between each client
Practitioners must wear fresh, non-sterile disposable gloves for every client — changing between treatments

Safe Disposal & Clinical Compliance

Waste Management

All clinical waste must be managed responsibly and in accordance with applicable regulations:

Sharps (blades, lancets) must be disposed of immediately in a puncture-resistant sharps container
Biological and clinical waste must be segregated from general waste using appropriate colour-coded bags
Licensed clinical waste disposal services must be used for the collection and disposal of all biological waste
Accurate disposal logs must be maintained and available for inspection upon request
