Referral, Safety & Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Knowing when to refer, how to manage safety emergencies, and committing to ongoing professional development are three pillars of responsible Hijama practice. HPA sets clear expectations for all registered practitioners in each of these areas.
HPA requires all registered practitioners to engage in ongoing professional development to maintain their registration and deliver the best possible care to clients:
Attend at least one HPA-accredited workshop, training session, or conference per year as a minimum requirement for membership renewal
Engage with new research, clinical guidelines, and best-practice updates relevant to Hijama and complementary medicine
Maintain a personal CPD log recording all professional development activities, including dates, content covered, and hours completed
